Microsoft Word is one of the most used office programs today. However, not everyone has it installed. The Adobe PDF(Portable Document Format) is a global format used in mobile phones to your standard PC. If your writing an e-book, want your doc to be compatible across a broad platform, or just need to keep your file intact, I suggest you consider converting your DOC file to PDF. You can do this for free by visiting Doc2PDF.net and using their online conversion tool. Enjoy.

Freebies,
Tips
It’s not quite free, but you may already own one. A member from the Whirlpool Forums Australia discovered that at the bottom of environmental bags, aka green bags, have a plastic mat at the bottom of them. This mat is perfect for a mouse pad! The mouse glides across it so well, and in my opinion, it’s one of the best freebies I’ve seen. The bags only cost about a dollar, so if you don’t have one, i suggest you check it out. This is innovation is for the masses . If your still not convinced, I’m using it myself!

Everyone today is using PDF files, and you’ve probably noticed it can take a little while to open such files. There is something that you can do to speed up Adobe PDF Reader. Every time you open Adobe PDF Reader, it loads extra plugins, causing the software to slow down. So what you need to do is remove those plugins. The following method should speed up Adobe PDF Reader.
1.Browse into Adobe Acrobat Reader’s program folder. (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0)
2.Open ‘plugins’ folder, select all (keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+A) and cut (Ctrl+X) the files to a backup folder. The idea is to let ‘plugins’ folder to be empty so that the additional features won’t load.
Test it and you should see positive results.

Everyone knows that Google is a very powerful search engine, and with a few tweaks, you can get Google to do a lot more. You can find direct download links like Mp3 Files, Software, Ebooks and Movies. And best of all it is simple to use. I’m talking about G2P.org
G2P (Google to Person) uses some crafty Google searches to help locate open directories or otherwise shared files. These searches are nothing secret (In fact, take a look at the results, so you can see how it is done). However, it is much easier to remember g2p.org than these complex searches.
Say goodbye to bittorrent and hello to g2p!

Tips,
Windows
I just finished up fixing a friends PC that had a interesting problem. It would mysteriously reboot itself every time it got to the windows bootup screen. I couldn’t understand it, it wouldn’t even allow me to access safe mode! So i pulled out the Windows XP Home disk and ran the repair console. I first tried the dir command, however it said invalid directory. I then tried FixMBR, however it said there was a problem with the bootsector.
With this in mind, Chkdsk was next on the list. It took about five minutes to scan and after it was done, it said it had successfully repaired hard disk errors. This time the dir command worked and I could see files and folders listed there, which was a good sign. Learning this, I rebooted the computer, hoping that it’d bootup properly this time. And luckly, it did. Everything was backup and running as it normally had been.
What had me really tossed was that my friend said he had be using msn then all of sudden it froze up. My conclusion would be that a virus corrupted the bootsector, but I can’t verify this. Anyone else experienced this?

Morning Coffee is an extension that allows you to set a group of Web sites that will open (each in its own tab) with the click of a button. This will save you from having to roam through your bookmarks (while drinking that first cup of wake-me-up in the morning) to view your favorite sites. And you don’t have to limit yourself to the same tabs everday, either. You can set sites up to open only on certain days (or every day). So if your tech guru or a regular surfer: this extension will make your browsing life a little easier.
You can get this nice extension from here: Morning Coffee 1.32

FireFox,

Just tonight I came back to my computer to browse the web, however when I went to select my bookmarks in Mozilla Firefox I noticed they had all disappeared! Immediately, I tried restarting Firefox, but that didn’t work. I then attempted to restore the json bookmark file but FireFox returned the error message: Unable to process restoration file.
I was puzzled by this, as I thought restoring the backup should have fixed it. After checking out the process manager, i found another instance of FireFox running that was using 102,222KB of memory! So i ended it, and then re-opened FireFox and finally, my bookmarks magically re-appeared. My conclusion to this problem was i don’t think i shut down Firefox Properly, thus it must of been left open in the memory. Morale of the story, shut down Firefox properly or else you’ll face problems!
Have you had mysteries things happen to you in Firefox? If so, please leave a comment as I’m sure everyone would love to hear about it and how you fixed it. I know I would .

Windows
Petter Ackebo recently introduced me to a unique program called Clone Tools. Clone Tools is a Windows duplicate file finder that finds folders with shared or identical content. With a click of a few buttons, I managed to get a list of duplicate files that I didn’t even know existed!
One of the features that stood out to me was that it didn’t allow you to delete the last copy of your file ensuring you won’t loose important data. It also forbids you to delete windows files as deleting these files could cause problems. Layout of the GUI is well presented and easy to navigate, as only a minimum amount of buttons are present. On the Clone Tools website, you can find a quick tutorial to give you a brief description on how to use Clone Tools which was very easy to follow. Scanning time obviously depends on the amount of files you are scanning and the speed of your computer, but I found it to be rather snappy.
Overall, if you’re looking to save time and space, I suggest you check it out; it got me back some useful hard disk space.
