Audials One, by RapidSolution Software is perhaps one of the most featured pack media centers of all time. Audials One can grab multiple radio stations at once, watch and convert videos, create ringtones, burn CD’s and much more.

When I was first introduced to the software, I wasn’t quite sure of its functionality. Having played around with it, the incorporated features are endless. I’ll split the features into 6 sections based on the tabs in the software: Radio, Search, Wishlist, Web, Podcasts, and Converter.

Radio
The radio section allows you to select multiple radio stations based on your choice of genre or wishlist (more about this later on) , record them, and split the songs into whatever format you want. Remember, all of this is done automatically for you. There’s thousands of radio stations to choose from, so you’re guaranteed to find something you like.

Search
The Search function allows you to search the internet for videos and mp3’s. Not only can you use a title search to find music, but also based on genre and similar artists in your current music library. Once the MP3 has been downloaded, it can be converted if desired, the MP3 is tagged, Album Art is added, and lyrics are grabbed as well. Nice.

Wishlist
The Wishlist allows you to add artists to a list in which Audials One will crawl the net looking for songs and videos related to that artist. There is also the option to share wishlists with other people. Basically, it’s audio on demand.

Web
So you have been on the net watching some videos, saw a video you really like and want to save it. AudialsOne monitors you internet temp folder and gives you a list of all the videos you have previously viewed. Once again, you have the option of converting the video to a selected video format if you wish.

Podcasts
Subscribed to multiple Podcasts? Audials One will download multiple Podcasts in parallel to make the most of your internet connection. There are many Podcasts to search through from all over the globe, so make sure you take a browse.

Converter
Converter allows you to convert any multimedia file on your PC to your selected format. Ranges from WMA, Ogg, FLAC to MP4, 3GP,XVID and many more. Also, Converter can strip your DRM protected audio files to give you freedom.

Additional Features
Audials One allows you to burn your multimedia files to CD, with the choice of a standard audio CD or Data disc. Using the audio files in the library, you can make your own ringtones, allowing you to customize each ringtone as much as you like. You can also synchronize your selected songs to your MP3 player.

Summary
Audials One contains a huge amount of features which have been packaged very well into a easy-to-use interface. It’s suited to a wide audience of people, but mostly those who want to download music and videos. Those who want to free their music from DRM will be in on this too. Thanks to the folks at Code Sector, they have invented a piece of software that integrates into the Windows shell and that will transfer files faster and safer: TeraCopy. What I mean by safer is that you can pause the transfer at anytime you like, then resume at a later time.

You know, I think Code Sector should contact Microsoft and ask them if they can integrate their software into Windows 7. Seriously, everyone should own a copy of TeraCopy.

Perhaps the most well known burning tool known to man, Nero have released their little gem for free: Nero 9. Nero 9 Free version maybe limited compared to the premium version, however if you just want to copy a disc, the free version will burn both CDs and DVD’s without a hitch. I myself decided to dig up my webcam and give this a go. Armed with a frisbee with a green strip of paper across the front, I was set to drive -- hardcore style. Whilst the reaction time could be better (however I think my computer was to blame for the lag), I spent a couple of hours playing Need For Speed: Most Wanted. (P.S. You know, if someone was skilled enough, it’d be possible to create virtual drumkit with velocity sensitve data. Draw up a drum kit and each image reprsenting a part of drum with midi information trigged by the motion of drum sticks colliding with the cymbal/highhat/tomtom, send it to your favorite sequencer and volia. Air drumming- could be the next best thing to sliced bread )

Small and Simple

Had you fooled there didn’t I . Launchy index’s all your files in the background so that when you go to type the thing your looking for, bam it’s there. To bring Launchy up all you need to press is Alt+Spacebar, then type the program, document or whatever in and Launchy will open it. After the file has been executed,  Launchy itself will become hidden again. Neat huh?

Launchy  can also open websites for you in your default broswer. Just punch in the URL and it will go there for you.  You can search Google or Youtube by typing in either Google +tab key or Youtube +tab key and then enter your keyword. If you work it out, Launchy cuts down a fair bit of time for you. If you wanted to search Youtube using your web browser manually, you would have to open Firefox, enter Youtube into the URL bar, then enter the keyword your searching for.

Launchy supports the following keyword websites: google, youtube, msn, yahoo, live, weather, amazon, wikipedia,
dictionary, thesaurus, imdb, netflix, and msdn websearch. I believe this feature can be adapted to more websites if you customize it in the options, however I haven’t looked further into it.

There are many more things Launchy can do but I would be here forever writing about them. So, I suggest, or even better, recommend you download this free software. I have to say, I've been living in the dark ages since Windows 95 was released. FreeComander is an easy-to-use alternative to the standard windows file manager. It blows the socks off Windows explorer big time.

It has a similar layout to Firefox, in that is has a tabbing feature so you can have many folders open and be able to access them quite easily. Ever had to scramble around selecting each jpg to be burn't on the CD, hoping that you get them all and don't add an incorrect file? No problem, just press Alt + Num+ which will select all the jpg files in that folder for you.

Or maybe you've been working on a Wordpress theme that is ready to be uploaded to an ftp. FreeComander has a built-in FTP client allowing you to connect and transfer files to your selected FTP server.

The layout is clean, has many hotkeys to shorten even further your time spent copying/renaming/compressing/searching in this single program. Installation is straight forward with no restart required. Starting up BoostSpeed will expose the clean graphical user interface, which makes it easy for anyone to use including those with minimal tech know-how.

To give your PC the works, the first step is to click One-Button Checkup; this will scan the registry, your hard disk, check for disk fragmentation and check your system protection. Once scanned it will display a summary of the problems and will ask you to fix them by simply clicking the Fix Now button. 

The One-Button Checkup is probably what most people will use, however if your a power user, BoostSpeed has a lot more to offer. Making our way to the Computer Clean Up tab, you'll be given a list of tools: Auslogics Disk Cleaner, Auslogics Registery Cleaner, Auslogics Uninstall manager, and Auslogics Startup Manager. If you didn't notice, the first two tools mentioned above are used in the One-Button Checkup.

The Uninstall manager is much better than the Windows version. It has the ability to search through programs installed; making is much easier to find the program(s) you wish to uninstall. The layout is easier to read because Auslogic have implemented a grid layout. The service manager is laid out in a similar fashion and is easy to use. 

The Optimization tab unveils a disk Defrag utility, registry defragger, internet optimizer, and a memory optimizer. Both the latter utilities are designed to improve the speed of your internet and free up memory. However, you must note that while there is some gain, it doesn't beat getting a faster internet plan or adding an extra stick of memory, it only optimizes what you have. 

Privacy and Security is the next tab, which has four tools to protect your privacy and increase security. The Track eraser removes any personal data from the PC ensuring your anonymity is secure. PC Security isn't a replacement for an anti virus program; however it does enable some security measures which do help. Also included is a file shredder that removes files beyond recovery.  The Disk Wiper makes sure that files previously deleted cannot be restored so that prying eyes can't get your files.  

Amongst the other extras, you'll find many tools such as Tweak manager which enables hidden tweaks that you didn't know about, System Information tool to retrieve system info and other diagnostic tools to help tune your PC to its full performance.

Auslogics BoostSpeed can very well improve the performance of your PC, and not just in one area, but your complete PC system. After testing out its features, I can verify that this program has improved the speed of my PC. It feels much more responsive. So how come vendors install this crapware? Because they get money for installing it on thier PC’s from the companies that make this stuff. It’s shameful really, I mean I don’t mind when they throw in a 3-month trial version of anti-virus software that works, but setting hompage’s to advertisment and installing 3rd party search bars is a no go in my books.
